I’m about halfway through the game to TV adaptation on Amazon Prime and I’m kind of awe-struck. Adaptations are a tough gig at the best of times, and almost every game to movie/TV migration has gone horribly wrong.
But Fallout is the exception that proves the rule. I was sort of looking forward to it, after seeing the trailer.
I think I’ve mentioned before that I had the game a couple of years ago but for some reason didn’t finish it. I can’t remember why now. But I’m in two minds about that anyway. Every fan of the game I’ve seen talking about the TV series has been raving about it as an unbelievably great re-imagining. But I’m kind of enjoying coming to it fresh. I don’t doubt there’s a lot to be enjoyed at a much deeper level if you’re already grounded in that story world. But I’m kind of a dopey media consumer. I can never work out how the story is gonna play out. So I’m loving all of the mystery built into this one.
