Tony Abbott has told dodgy radio station 2GB that asylum-seekers are “having a lend of us” because most of them are “economic refugees”1. While commenting on anything Tony Abbott says is a little risky because his inarticulacy tends to make one think he may have, at the time, simply lost a connection between what remains of his brain and his gob, and said something he didn’t really mean to say.
Articles from THE BLOT REPORT
Some time ago, I wrote a piece about the federal government ‘going full Trump’ in that members of parliament seem to believe they can get away with bald-faced lies and not be held to account. This has been exacerbated either by some real journalists allowing them to get away with it, or by the lies being expressed on Murdoch broadcast media (e.g. Sky News Australia)2 or regurgitated by ‘ruperters’ in Murdoch’s print media3.
You have to feel sorry for Tony Abbott. He has failed at almost everything he has tried in his life; priesthood, journalism, marriage, and prime ministership. Now, in the Sydney Morning Herald (SMH), he is pleading with the people of his electorate not to turf him out of parliament at the next federal election1. Abbott holds the seat of Warringah in Sydney’s northeast.
Creationists come in three flavours and they are:
The government and the corporate media have pulled out all the stops to try to convince many people that the rich need taxpayers to keep writing cheques for them. This is done by way of excess franking credit refunds. I have explained how this is done before, but just in case you have forgotten, I’ll explain it again.
Murdoch hack, Greg Brown, who has been the subject of one of these diatribes before1,2, has acted as stenographer for Prime Minister Scott Morrison in a repetitive dog-whistle piece for Murdoch’s The Australian3. I suppose such repetition is what you do when you don’t have much content and you need to pad out the column inches.
Numerous times, I have demonstrated the dishonesty of Murdoch ‘ruperters’ in their rabid support of the Coalition government despite it being the most incompetent, corrupt government I have ever seen in Australia. However, I rarely comment on some of their ‘columnists’ because those like Miranda Devine, Chris Kenny, Greg Sheridan are so bizarre in their outlook, and so divorced from reality, that I wouldn’t know where to start.
