Holiday in Glasgow

April 28, 2022 - 09:09 -- Admin

After being shamed into attending the Glasgow COP26 climate conference late last year, rather than sending a minion, Morrison realised he had to have something to take to the conference, even if it was only a fig leaf. So his ‘idea’ was to have a net zero emissions target for 2050, rather than his never-never plan of ‘preferably by 2050’. As a consequence, he had to get the National Party to agree to something.

The Kooyong spiv

April 25, 2022 - 11:52 -- Admin

Kooyong is an electorate of 59 square kilometres in inner Melbourne and is east of a bend in the Yarra River. It extends from the suburb of Glen Iris in the south, across to the east bank of the Yarra at Hawthorn, north to Kew, Balwyn North and Mont Albert North, then South to Mont Albert, Surrey Hills and Camberwell1. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg won the seat at the 2019 federal election against Julian Burnside (Greens) with a margin of 55.7% to 44.3% (two party preferred)2.

Another religious nutter

April 23, 2022 - 10:34 -- Admin

As I said in a recent post, Scott Morrison’s captain’s pick for Warringah, Catherine Deves has monopolised the recent religious nutjobbery headlines with her repugnant views on transgender people1.  However, it seems that the National Party is not to be outdone. They have come up with their own religious nutter vying for the fruitcake prize among candidates for the federal election. Her name is Kimberly Hone and she is running in the federal election for the seat of Richmond.

Why I cannot vote for the Morrison government: stealing credit

April 22, 2022 - 09:06 -- Admin

To reiterate, again, for the last of this series: someone online asked me and others to explain why we could not vote for the Morrison government (not that I ever would), I replied:

“The constant lies, misogyny, racism, idiocy, petulance, corruption, pork barrelling, religious nutjobbery, hatred of expertise, shirking of responsibility, shifting of blame to the blameless, the stealing of credit from the creditable. #WhyIWantChange”1

Why I cannot vote for the Morrison government: shirking responsibility and shifting blame

As I have said ad nauseam in this series, someone online asked me and others to explain why we could not vote for the Morrison government (not that I ever would), I replied:

“The constant lies, misogyny, racism, idiocy, petulance, corruption, pork barrelling, religious nutjobbery, hatred of expertise, shirking of responsibility, shifting of blame to the blameless, the stealing of credit from the creditable. #WhyIWantChange”1

Why I cannot vote for the Morrison government: hatred of expertise
