It's that time of semester (or so i assume) that the school's Union decides they need another student voice to contribute to the already teeming student representative council.
This process is completely pointless.
This is why:
-90% of the candidates are the crazed socialist that tackle you daily offering to sell you wank propaganda.
-The other 10% of candidate's policies are identical. Offering a contribution towards "better student services", but never actually specifying what this is.
-100% of the student body will vote for the guy offering, and i quote, "More Beer". (Fair enough.)
-And finally only about 2% of the actual student body vote.
One candidate's policy statement honestly stumped me.
"Howard may be out of sight but for SOLIDARITY he is never out of mind! As good revolutionary socialists we must remain EVER VIGILANT and be ready to mobilise the masses of students. Last year Solidarity after huge student rallies John Howard and the right wing Liberals seemed to be defeated. But, it has become clear that Kevin Rudd is JOHN HOWARD IN DISGUISE!!!! Yes that's right. What is even more worrying is that the University Administration is complicit in this decision. Soon we will have proof. If elected i will use Union Board funds to launch Operation will reveal the Rudd. Unmask! This Government's secret agenda to bring Howard back.
So to ensure the union board focuses on what matters to you:
VOTE 1 SOLIDARITY!
(or you will be first up against the wall when the revolution comes.)"
O.K, first off this just sounds like the blatant socialist bullshit we get force fed every day. But I honestly can't distinguish if this is meant to be a joke or not.
She accuses the university faculty of being part of an evil deception.
She threatens students into voting for her shitty policy when majority of them wouldn't even have the brain capacity or the sobriety to give half a flying fuck. Understandably, the masses just want "More Beer", not to mobilise in good revolutionary fashion.
This is just a cruddy Representative council election that will be forgotten before it is even acknowledged, yet she is adamant that she is some sort of epic revolutionary and will actually have any form of influence to the university. She is deluded.
I'm still in a state of discombobulation.
