"Er, you know, I sometimes get a little nervous meeting foreign dignitaries so I bring my Red Cross flag to feel safe"Apparently a Colombian soldier posed as Red Cross personnel during the $20 million ransomed-rescue of Ingrid Betancourt and several other hostages two weeks ago.
Shit like that gets humanitarian workers killed. It's also against international law.
I heard Alvaro Uribe's pathetic explanation on Newsradio this morning. Basically it was that the soldier got 'scared' by the situation he was in and pulled out a Red Cross bib or something that he had in his bag and wore it during the 'rescue'. Oh, and by doing so he was contradicting official orders. Official orders not to wear the red cross emblem? Hmmm.
So why the hell was he carrying it in his bag in the first place if it wasn't official tactics? Am I the only person who doesn't carry around a Red Cross t-shirt just in case I end up in a situation that makes me a bit nervous? Or does that murderous slimebag Uribe's story have more holes than a frigging sieve?
