This might save a sunburnt country.

The Dead Roo - October 6, 2007 - 5:08pm

Perusing the wb as I sometimes do, I was heartened to come across this little snippet about YET another way Australia might reduce it’s dependance on coal powered electricity…but isn’t…YET.

Clearly the technology is available, it just isn’t being utilised, at least not to it’s maximum potential.

Clean, energy efficient, renewable energy from the sun, it is hard to argue against, particularly in a country with so much of it and likely to have even more if the CSIRO’s assesment of global warming is accurate. Read more »

Worst ad in history!!

The Dead Roo - October 4, 2007 - 4:44pm

Well I hope everyone in Australia is appreciating the $1 million per day (ALP Figures, not mine) that the liberal party is spending advertising their work choices BS.

In keeping with the liberal party policy of “treating the Australain public with utter contempt” their latest offering sees not one but a series of ads showing…not a defence of workchoices, but paid actors portraying drunks in a pub banging on with some “well I reckon work choices is alright” drivel that would make a porn director cringe. A September update from my political garden

The Dead Roo - September 18, 2007 - 1:23pm

Chooks

Gardening, it’s a political act. What bigger rebellion against the “golden straightjacket” could there be, to instead of buying food, grow your own and eat it?

It’s been some months since I posted a new batch of photos from my political garden. In the time since the June update I’ve done and learnt a LOT about backyard gardening.

Go over the fold for the full report with photos. Read more »

John Howard’s referendum on assimilation

The Dead Roo - October 12, 2007 - 1:56am

Yesterday John Howard announced that he will, if re-elected, hold a referendum to amend the preamble of the Australian constitution to include a “statement of reconciliation” and to “recognise indigenous Australians” Read more »

Reefer madness is back!!

The Dead Roo - October 5, 2007 - 10:47pm

Remember those ridiculous black and white films from the early 1930’s, specifically the ones relating to the use of …shock horror…MARIJUANA!!!!!

The one that cracks me up most is the one where this guy takes a puff on a joint, a puff mind you and seconds later is murdering his wife with an axe.

Of course a completely factual account of the typical experience of smoking cannibis, as anyone who has tried it (and their dismembered spouse) will attest. Read more »

Citizenship Test attempting to reinstate White Australia Policy

The Dead Roo - October 3, 2007 - 5:17pm

I have just finished browsing the Dept. of Immigration’s website taking a good look around the citizenship area, sadly I don’t think there is grounds to revoke John Howard’s citizenship, unless he is convicted of a serious crime prior to attaining it, which, as he was born here will be while he was in utero. Let’s face it, can we really rule that out? Read more »

Judging Maddy’s Parents

The Dead Roo - September 21, 2007 - 11:44pm

To quote some random idiot I ran into at the supermarket:

Yikes! I’m having a hard time believing that they are guilty of anything, but I haven’t been following as much.

*engage rant mode*

It’s a matter for the public prosecutor to investigate and see whether there is a case to answer. Then and only then, it will be a case for a court to decide. Read more »

It’s not easy being Green… in Saudi Arabia!

The Dead Roo - September 17, 2007 - 8:21pm

Like other Greens involved in the current election campaign, I’ve had cause for despair at times. When you think it’s tough being Green, spare a thought for those Greens working in some of the worlds harder political situations.

Ladies, Gents and others, let me introduce you to the Green Party of Saudi Arabia.

The organising environment presents some unique challenges:

“Are you serious?” Read more »
