Chinese Democray doesn't exist

Random Brainwave - May 16, 2008 - 12:44am

The "upcoming" Guns N' Roses album Chinese Democracy doesn't exist.

Anyone who is looking forward to this album is a sucker.

My source says that Axl Rose has taken all the money meant for the album, and spent it on crack.

True story.

This Is Weird

UPDATE: Not exactly sure whats going on or why this is an update, but over the recent weeks Gumtree has changed its look, so now its more confusing than ever to use and i don't know what the hell's going on. I created an ad under 'girls seeking guys' and also one under 'guys seeking girls', yet no responses and i cant find them on there anywhere. It also appears no one else knows how to use the new shoddy system, because theres random ads posted all over the place.

This sucks. Surname, take a look yeah? Read more »

Random Brainwave - May 14, 2008 - 2:05am

Recently on this blog Chuck and TV have been discussing about how NiN have released the RAW tracks to their new album so fans can remix and fiddle with it.

In news along that track, one of my favourite bands of recent times has come back from the dead and released several new (well, aborted 2006) tracks online for people to mix how they want - and they might just appear on the new album.

I did not see this coming. Glad to have them back.

Check them out here.

Hard At Work

Random Brainwave - May 11, 2008 - 9:45pm

Last Friday was an extremely important day at Charles Angus Spear Pty Ltd. I had been attempting a world record at making the longest chain of paper clips and my assistant, Sophie, had spent the morning watching a vest on eBay. At about 1pm, I left the office in Sophia's hands to go and purchase a six-pack of beer to tide us both over until after-work drinks at the Marrakesh Lounge in Little Collins St. $1 Coronas were awaiting us. Random Brainwave - May 7, 2008 - 4:43pm

Iain Hall is a dope. He's just a dope. He's so consumed by hatred and insecurity, the only way he can get back at a blogger is to reveal their identity, and he can't even do that right - as shown by the hilarious way Ant manipulated Iain until he was a seething ball of rage.Recently, as many of you will know, Iain has outed THR as one Matthew French. Except there is one problem.Matthew French doesn't exist. Read more »

Videodrome

Random Brainwave - May 5, 2008 - 5:10pm

I'm pretty fond of David Cronenberg. A few of his films rank among my most favourite. And possibly my favourite of all of them is Videodrome. The film is a wonderful, disturbing epic and a complete mindfuck - it is up there with some of David Lynch's work for its grotesque headwarping appeal. (Also, James Woods grows a vagina on his chest and Debbie Harry shows off what her momma gave her). However, I just saw this trailer, for the very same film. Read more »

Music, Sweet Music

Random Brainwave - May 4, 2008 - 10:37pm

There's been a fair bit of discussion lately on Jeremy's blog and the Grodsthink podcast about music sharing and anti-piracy. And it's time I, Charles Angus Spear, weighed in on the whole debate.1. Get used to it. If people really dig a band they will buy their CDs. OK, there will be a small percentage who won't, but in the old days they would have dubbed a cassette tape anyway. Read more »

Amazing Films I've Never Seen #1: Bruce Lee Fights Back From The Grave

Random Brainwave - May 1, 2008 - 10:41pm

This is the first in my hopefully soon-to-be-epic series of Amazing Films I've Never Seen. This series will feature films whose titles, plots or general mise en scene are just too amazing to exist - and yet somehow, do. These films are generally obscure beyond any modern knowledge (except for the occasional film freak or gatherer of knowledge regarding cheesy crap on celluloid - such as myself), and in a twist to the usual "review" schtick, I haven't actually seen any of them. But I want to. And that's the kicker. Read more »

Eavsdropping on the train is what the kids today regard as "the shizzle". Two drunk bogans talking. One of them is wearing a scummy hooded jumper emblazed with the logo of a third-rate Australian hip-hop record label.

"Nah, nah, nah, nah mate. You can't buy hoodies like this mate. This is one a kind mate. You can't buy it, you have to earn it..."
