Pity the poor Federal Opposition

Hoyden About Town - May 15, 2008 - 11:20am

The bizarre fixation on the tax hike for ready-to-drink alcholic mixed drinks shows that they haven’t really got a lot to effectively gripe about with the first Rudd Budget, have they? How many of the small number of politics wonks who normally watch the Opposition Leader’s Budget reply speech will even bother tuning in to Brendan Nelson’s (aka 9 of 100) effort tonight? 1 Read more »

ABC complaints

The Road to Surfdom - May 15, 2008 - 10:25am

Back on April 3 I made an official complaint to the ABC about a story it had run alleging that Kevin Rudd had offered to help Hillary Clinton with her campaign. Other reports and subsequent events suggest the story was a complete fabrication, the result of editorial incompetence or worse.

The ABC broadcast bullying and science hooliganism problem

Online Opinion - May 15, 2008 - 9:41am

The ABC's science presenter may be a 'living national treasure' but his behaviour can be pure junk.

Opposition Budget politics, 2008 style

Larvatus Prodeo - May 14, 2008 - 11:00pm

It was interesting to read the acres of newsprint devoted to Budget specials today for two reasons - one to note that so much of the “interest group” reaction is typical - one headline - “teachers say more is needed for schools” - probably writes itself, and could be run nearly every year.
